Easy Ways to Increase Traffic to your Website

Making a website can be very fun and enjoying. Sharing what you like through a website is an excellent example of internet networking as well as connecting with other people around the world who take the same interest as you. There is a lot one needs to know about how to make a good, effective website. Out of the 4 websites I have made, 1 is poor, 1 is okay, 1 is good and 1 is excellent; well in this hub, I will be giving you the experience I took in from the "excellent" website in order to help you and your website grow to exceeding numbers!

1. Photos and Captions

My number one website is called Luxury Homes and Places. Communicating with other people about luxury homes involves a great deal of pictures. Pictures are helpful when someone is trying to display what their website is about. Obviously, there are pictures on my Luxury Home website (about 130). If you also have a way to add pictures I strongly recommend it because it not only makes your website look more professional, but they also bring in pretty good traffic.

Ever been to Google Images? Well Google Images and the photos on your website are linked together because they are on the world wide web. When you enter a picture on your website, either your own pic that you took yourself or a picture from Google Images, be sure to add a caption under the photo. There should be a small content box near or under the picture just added to where you can enter a small caption. If the picture is a luxury home, I will usually put the caption of "Luxury Home" or "Mediterranean Style Mansion" or something along those lines; a caption that explains the picture, just not in paragraph form. Now that way when someone goes to Google Images and types in the exact small caption under my picture, that picture will pop up and, if the person clicks on that photo linked to my website, I get traffic. Then, the person will usually stay and glance at all the other pictures I have on there.

2. Links

Be sure to link your websites. What do I mean by linking? Well be sure to post your link on other websites that you visit. Maybe you visit a website that allows someone to post a comment or reply. Make sure to enter your link in the link box or signature your link after the comment. This enables not only the publisher to visit your website if interested, but it also allows other people who visit the website to click on your link if interested.

3. Submit to Google and Yahoo

Your website domain provider should have the option to submit your website to either Google, Yahoo, or both. On Webs, the site where I have created all of my websites, has just that option. Although a growing site will not see much traffic from this at the beginning, as I have learned, it takes quite some times for people to recognize and find your website. Its easy; just follow the simple steps and submit it. Hopefully you will be able to get some traffic.

4. Post It Everywhere!

I learned that not only linking your site to other sites helps traffic, but also posting your website URL everywhere on the web does too, if not more! A couple of examples when I say 'everywhere' are as follows. At the end of everything email, I have my signature set as my name and then my website URL directly under my name on the next line. If the person receiving the email is interested in your website, they will obviously click! Another way is posting it on social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Xomba, Digg, Stumbleupon; the list is endless! By doing so, you not only get your site way out there on the web, but you also will get quite a significance from them. Personally, I get a lot of traffic from Twitter! Other places to post your website are endless!

5. KEYWORDS!

Hmm..how did you just find this hub? Probably by keywords! I call keywords the Kings of Traffic because they bring in an enormous amount of traffic. So lets say you don't know what I mean by 'keywords'. Well, the term is very simple and I think you will get it through examples (thats how I learned it). Lets say, you make a site called 'Luxury Homes and Luxury Interiors With Beautiful Architecture'. First off, thats an extremely long name which you do NOT wanna use. No long names! Simple and brief but get the point across. So, what are the odds of someone typing that whole long exact name into Google? Almost none! I can guarantee you that if you make a website entitled 'Luxury Homes' and then just add all the other stuff as content on your website, you will get more traffic because someone is 99.9% more to type in 'luxury homes' then 'luxury homes and luxury interiors with beautiful architecture'. 6. One Thing to do Here on HubPages...

I learned that this technique also drives a good bit of traffic as well: posting your website link to your hubs. I have over 100 hubs and on 80% of them, my website is listed just like my email account, as my signature. So paste them as your signature on your hubs.

Another thing to do is paste them on your profile. Do you know how many views your HubPages profile gets? I linked my HubPages profile with Google Analytics, which is just an advanced trafficing website, and the amount of traffic my HubPages profile receives is incredible! I would not have guessed that! So I decided to detail my profile with a little slip about myself and then the rest would be entirely devoted to advertising my websites, which did prove to help!

7. Choose a Good Website Name

Like I talked about in the section above, good website names are very helpful. They can also be useful when it comes to traffic. Be sure to pick a good, easy to remember, not run of the mill, website name. And be sure to make your website name broad. I made a website called 'All About Range Rovers' because I just love those dang cars :) but thats beside the point....anyway, that topic is closed in specifically on Range Rovers. So all I could really put on that website was...Range Rover stuff! In the end, it doesn't get much traffic because its only narrowed down to one specific thing. Now, if I would have titled that website something like 'Luxury Cars' and posted it on there, I would have been able to: 1. Post more efficient content and 2. Get more traffic due to more content.

8. More Small Things...

Some other small but helpful and useful ways to generate traffic, which are almost given, are easy to remember. You must post good content on your website that someone who is searching in a search engine will like, make sure to come up with a good domain or even a subdomain name for your website, make it easy for people to find and then navigate, and use popular keywords pertaining to your site (which helps tremendously, use good keywords!!!).
