Two Texas Treasures: Food and Football!
61
Texas is the greatest state in the United States of America. Some may disagree, but that's their opinion. We almost even have our own language. Where else do they say words like "ya'll" and "fixin to"? Texas sure is a great state. To be a true Texan, there are 2 "treasures" that you should be active in. One is food and beer, the other is football.
You must realize, Texas is a state of fun and fellowship. I can almost guarantee you that in every single town in Texas, big or small, they have some sort of football team or heavily enjoy football. It's just in a Texan's blood! Whether it's the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Texas Longhorns or whoever a Texan supports, they will be on fire about that team! Watching every game, going to a few, having friends over "for the game"; Texas loves football! Heck, Jerry Jones spent 1.12 BILLION dollars on the biggest football stadium in the country for what...football baby! That's dedication! We got bumper stickers, pins, t-shirts, hats, jerseys, everything football! I even knew someone who would wear a Dallas Cowboy shirt to church. I knew someone, a big Texan, who would skip events because he had to "do something important". I do think sitting in front of a computer screen starting your Fantasy Football starters with the football game in the background is an excuse for missing an important event, but once again, he was Texan!
The other Texas "treasure" is a true Texan's love for good food and beer. Whether is Jack in the Box at 2 am or eating lunch with your friend Jack in some random box (lol), we all love our food. We even invented Dr. Pepper for crying out loud!! Here are some funny facts and proof us Texans love our food; Elgin, Texas is the sausage capital of Texas, Friona, Texas is the cheeseburger capital of Texas, Hawkins, Texas is the pancake capital of Texas, Lockhart, Texas is the BBQ capital of Texas, and Mauriceville is the crawfish capital of Texas. And also, the American Airlines Center in Dallas has the most toilets of and sports and entertainment venue in the country! Lol, that's funny. So as you can see, us Texans love our food. We also love our beer. This is something we have in common with the whole world, we love beer. When you go to a football game (hmm coincidence) or a baseball game, that's all you will see is beer.
Now, a true Texan will attempt something extra special. It's very fun if you do it right, but you gotta have everything right! True Texans will mix the football with the food and beer to make football parties! I attended one just last week where tons of people get together for a cook out and watch the big game. These are very fun!
So as you can see, us Texans love us some good old football with some good ole food and beer! Thanks for reading!

One of my assistants recently got her position and decided to redecorate her office. She got this nice clock and I saw hope, Then she came in with a TEXAS sign made from barbed wire. You just can't train the redneck out of a Texas girl!
Up here now in Toronto, I really miss my Sugarland, part of the best kept secret,no doubt. Wish I was there - it was great to be here and see it again. Thanks!
Hey, I born in Louisiana, but lived in Texas long enough to become a Dallas football fan. so,thanks for the Texas hub, creativeone59
hey, this your opinion about Texas, too...and Jerry Jones doesn't give a care in the world about football, just the money it makes.

LOL....*rolls eyes*....I'm as Texan as they get, but you can keep both the football and beer. Perhaps it's a TEXAS GUY thang! LOL I have hubs about Dr.Pepper (a WACO, Tx invention) and the crazy fried stuff we dream up for the State Fair "We'll Fry Anything". This year it's fried butter).
