Three of the Biggest and Most Famous Houses in the U.S.

There are MANY large and luxurious houses in the United States and even in the world, but there are a couple that climb above all the others. The folks that own these houses are incredibly smart and obviously rich. Enjoy reading about some large mansions in this great country.

Bill Gates’ House – It is credited as the biggest in the US, but that just might be wrong. Bill’s house really is big, but some others that are in construction could take over! Anyway, Bill’s house is currently the largest in the US and just one of the biggest in the world. Bill Gates is a big wig for Microsoft and other companies. He has made a bunch, a BUNCH of money. So he decided to spend a chunk of it on a large homestead. Now, America gets to drool over its intensity!

The house, excuse me, mansion has a current value of 147.5 million dollars and is over 66,000 square feet! That’s around 1 and ½ acres. According to many sources, the house is a Pacific lodge style. Some commodities of the mansion include a massive swimming pool, staircases, 24 bathrooms, and six fireplaces. Some interesting things about this house include that the lights come on right when you walk in, you can tell the temp of the room from a microchip, and that the size of this house is 30 times larger than the average American home. The house is located in Medina, Washington overlooking Lake Washington.

Michael Dell’s House – This one is really unique. Looking at it from the air, it looks like a giant office building. But no, it’s a house! The house is considered to be the most expensive house in Texas. The house is 33,000 square feet, half the size of Bill Gates’. The house is located in Austin, Texas, the capital of Texas. The house sits upon a hilltop overlooking Lake Austin. This house is truly unique and incredible.

The Biltmore Estate – Ok, so which is the biggest? I believe that this homestead would be the largest. Coming in at over 175,000 square feet, this house is the largest privately owned house in the US.

This house would also have to be the house with the richest history. It was built around 1888 and 1895. It is located in Asheville, North Carolina. The house has been passed down from Vanderbilt family members, a very high-profiled, wealthy family from the Gilded Age.

The house is now somewhat like a hotel. It is still regarded as a house, but people can visit it and even stay a night or two. The estate includes 250 bedrooms, a 70,000 gallon pool, multiple farms, luscious plants, beautiful green grass, and other pricy expenses. The architect style is called Chateauesque, a French style used in the 1400’s. The mansion ranked 8^th in the top 150 favorite structures in America.
